How we started

Chicago born, Michigan raised,  I headed for college not knowing what career path I would take.  But with my faith in God, I truly feel that it chose me. After four years of studying at Central Michigan University, and being at the top of my program, I earned my Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, minoring in Construction Management & Art. Upon graduation, I received a job offer from an elite commercial design firm in Florida. I worked on many resort, hotel, spa and restaurant projects in my years there. I slowly made the transition and started working in the residential field, as well. In 2019 I took a leap of faith and officially launched House of Lauren, with a mission to bring beautiful design to everybody; not just the extremely wealthy. I want interior design to be approachable and to be able to help anyone who is challenged by designing their own spaces.

Most work days you can find me in some comfy jeans working away in my office on a wide variety of design projects. But when it’s the weekends, you might catch me in my tattered, not-so-stylish yard clothes, planting flowers or house plants.  I can also be spotted in my apron, covered in flour working on my next loaf of sourdough bread, I'm my happiest when I'm creating. I'm a mom to 2 sweet babies, and a lover of houseplants. I’ve been an athlete my entire life, but the pickleball court has my heart now. I'm a wife, a lover of Jesus, and a woman who tries to never say no to what brings me joy. We only have one life, and I believe in making it count & keeping it real. Getting up every day and doing what I love makes me come alive.
